Protopsaltis aid Greece in 3-2 triumph

Kokkinakis Menelaos against the mexican block

Tepic, Mexico, June 12, 2015 – Greece escaped a thrilling five-set encounter with Mexico 3-2 (20-25, 21-25, 25-21, 25-19, 16-14) in Pool G, to mark their return in the FIVB Volleyball World League at the Auditorio de la Gente on Friday.

Athanasios Protopsaltis made 17 markers from 13 attacks, three blocks and a service ace to help Greece in their comeback.

Protopsaltis came in the first set as a substitute but his strong performance warranted a starting stint in the next four sets. Although Greece lost the first two sets, Protopsaltis facilitated their offence to stay in the match until the end.

Greece bounced back with control over their opponents in the third and fourth frames. Greece and Mexico fought point-by-point in the challenging fifth set but errors of the latter gave way for Greece to conclude the match with the slim two-point advantage at 16-14.
