Only one team wanted to win, says Egypt coach Frigoni

Taraz, Kazakhstan, June 14, 2015 – Egypt triumphed in straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-17) over Venezuela in Pool H at the Taraz-Arena on Sunday as they needed three points to have chance to qualify.

Venezuela coach Vincenzo Nacci: I think we started very well in the first set but then we had many mistakes. In the third set, we started really slow. Egypt took advantage and it was difficult to get back. We wanted to try younger players today, playing in a big game, so I want to see how we can use them in the next round.

Venezuela player Ivan Marquez: We played pretty good with the service. We had young players who did a lot of work. We know our mistakes and we know how we can make it better. We have to change our mentality while playing in the competition. If we put more effort, we can be a better team on the court.

Egypt coach Angiolino Frigoni: There was a difference in the two teams: one team wanted to win, the other just wanted to play. Today we did a good job, like yesterday, in service, and we were fully concentrated during the whole match because we needed these three points. With these three points, we still have a chance to qualify. There were some plays that we could have handled better but was enough to win.

Egypt player Hossam Abdalla: We played a good match today. We concentrated a lot on service.
