Spain see off Venezuela in four sets

Taraz, Kazakhstan, June 13, 2015 - Spain beat Venezuela in four sets 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23) with the Venezuelians being able to win only the second set and losing the match point on their own serve error.

In the first set Spain displayed a very solid performance and did not leave any real chance to the Venezuelians racing to a 25-16 victory. The more or less even game was only until the second technical timeout. Than the European side put on the gas pedal with among other a great spike followed by an ace from Rocamora Blazquez.

Venezuela gained a narrow advatage early in the second set and didn't stop their march until the last point continously extending their lead. Spain was trying to fight back but never managed to reduce the deficit to less than two points. Five aces contributed to the 25-21 victory of the visitors from South America.

Spain displayed a good pace early in the third set and moved up to 8-3. Venezuela was able to cut the gap to three points (21-18) but the European side kept calm and finished off with 25-22. In the fourth set Spain gained the first point from an ace by Francisco J. Ruiz and quickly raced to a comfortable 9-4 advantage. Venezuela however did not give up and brought the score from 24-21 down to only one point deficit at 24-23 with an successful attempt and big block from Ivan Marquez. A hope for a victory in this set was destroyed when a Venezuelian player subsequently sent the serve into the net concluding the match with 3-1 in Spain's favour.
