Spain's Miguel Angel Fornes flying high

Cairo, Egypt, June 19, 2015 - Francisco J. Ruiz led Spain to their fourth consecutive win in Pool H of the World League with a 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-21 ) win over Venezuela. Spain keep their 100% record as Venezuela stay rock-bottom.

Spain were looking to keep their 100% record in Pool H after wins over all three sides in their group in previous weeks and were first out of the blocks in the opening set with Francisco J. Ruiz in all round impressive form for the league leaders in their battle with Venezuela. The first set seemed to go with the form book as Spain opened up a gap and took the set 25-18 to take a 1-0 lead in the tie.

The second set saw a series of even exchanges between the two side before Venezuela began to edge in front hoping to level the set score. At 19-16 to Venezuela it seemed like the momentum had shifted but Spain fought back to level the scores at 24-24 to take the second set into a tie-break and they duly completed the comeback and take a 2-0 lead in sets as they took it 26-24 to give Venezuela a mountain to climb to get back into the tie.

The third set again saw a tight affair with Ruiz continuing his spiking form with a 10 out of 12 success rate midway through the third set. Kervin Martin Piñerua Urbina was having his own impressive night for Venuzuela with 16 points but they began to lose their focus as Spain edged 20-15 in front. Spain continued to edge towards victory and wrapped up the tie with a 25-21 win for a 3-0 sets victory.
