Kokkinakis Menelaos: “We gained confidence as the match developed”

Tepic, Mexico, June 12, 2015 – Greece prevailed over Mexico 3-2 in Pool G of the FIVB Volleyball World League at the Auditorio dela Gente on Friday.

Greece coach Drikos Sotirios: “Our whole strategy had to change because one of our starting players could not come here because of a back injury, that is why our game plan suffered so much. It was difficult facing Mexico. I believe we won because of two reasons – we worked hard to lessen our errors and we fought with the same spirit as Mexico.”

Greece captain Menelaos Kokkinakis: “We lacked concentration in the beginning and Mexico performed better than us, but we overcame many of our unforced errors in difficult situations. We gained more confidence as the match developed.”

Mexico coach Roberto Vilches: “Our opposite player did not perform as expected. We were constantly making substitutions to look for the right combination to take the win. Greece began improving and we did the opposite, while they took advantage on scoring from our unforced errors.

Mexico captain Tomas Aguilera: “We could not play with the same intensity as we started. Our collective efforts began to fail and we forgot that Greece was a strong opponent, making simple things difficult.
