Tepic, Mexico, June 14, 2015 – Greece rebounded and secured a 3-2 victory over Slovakia in Pool G of the FIVB Volleyball World League at the Auditorio de la Gente on Sunday.

Greece coach Drikos Sotirios: “We are satisfied to bring volleyball to Tepic. It has been a great experience for the fans and for us. We had a good start but we lost concentration, which forced us to use our substitutes, who executed well forcing another five-setter. Both teams were tired and it was a difficult match.”

Greece captain Menelaos Kokkinakis: “In the first two sets, we had many unforced errors until we found the formula to come back and seal the match with a victory. We still have a lot of work to do and things to improve on. I want to thank our fans back home because they have been following our performance and they will be excited to support us when the World League arrives in Greece next weekend.”

Slovakia coach Flavio Gulinelli: “My players need to have more determination. This is the second match we have lost with a 2-0 advantage. For me, and I do not want to reduce Greece’s effort and victory, but we are responsible for the loss.”

Slovakia captain Michal Masny: “Our game plan was to finish in three or four sets. It was not possible to keep the same rhythm throughout the match. We will continue to practise and work with more intensity to correct our faults.”
