Montenegro's Boskan: "This is a huge success for us”

Montenegro captain Vojin Cacic speaks after Puerto Rico victory

Istanbul, Turkey, June 20, 2015 - Montenegro qualified for the Final Four of Group 3 in Slovakia with a 3-1 (25-19, 28-26, 22-25, 25-13) victory against Puerto Rico.

Montenegro coach Slobodan Boskan:
I feel very happy and satisfied that we have guaranteed our place in the Final Four especially for us it’s a huge success as it’s the first time we are competing in this competition. I would like to congratulate my team and staff for contributing to this success, as we were well prepared as you can see by the results so far. Today’s match however was a little unusual as we had the pressure for being the favourites. We recovered on the fourth set showing our full strength and power and we deserved to win this match today. I look forward to tomorrow’s match against Turkey and later focussing on the next round.

Montenegro captain Vojin Cacic: It was a difficult match today as we were a little bit tired and we were expecting to win 3-0 at the start which made us a little relaxed which then cost us losing a set. After losing the set we said we must play on full power to win and qualify. We are a confident team with very good players and really look forward to the finals.

Puerto Rico coach Javier Gaspar: We competed well. We were better than yesterday. But we were not consistent. When you allow a team like Montenegro to go up six points, it is hard to come back. We could be easily up 2-1 after third set.

Puerto Rico captain Hector Soto: We wanted to play better and I think we did. Of course we would like to win but our aim is to be good at Olympic qualification right now. We are trying to improve in this tournament. And we are satisfied.
