Zanini: “We were solid today”

Turkey coach Emanuele Zanini speaks after straight sets win over Puerto Rico

Istanbul, Turkey, June 19, 2015. Turkey started with its second week of 2015 FIVB World League campaign with a straight sets victory (25-16, 25-16, 25-13) over Puerto Rico in Istanbul.

Turkey coach Emanuele Zanini - "I am satisfied in general. We played good both in defence and offence. We are thinking match by match. To improve our level, we need this kind of competitions. We need high level domestic league like last four years."

Turkey captain Ulaş Kıyak - "We played good as a team. Our aim is to reach Final Four in Slovakia. But we have to win our next two games and wait for the others. We will do our best to qualify. Tomorrow we will have a difficult game against Tunisia."

Puerto Rico coach Javier Gaspar - "I think Turkey played really well and made the adjustments pretty quickly since our first match back at Montenegro. We also made adjustments too but didn’t execute it. The Turkish side were very good at blocking and defending and played complete compared to us."

Puerto Rico captain Hector Soto - "The Turkish team were very good today with their offence as it was extremely effective as we couldn’t find a way to stop their attacks. When a team attacks over 60% for a match, it’s to win that match. We need to work on our blocks and defence but also our offence needs to improve too. We are going to concentrate on our team and try to fix our weaknesses as we are in the process of trying to get better."
