Slovakia's coach Gulinelli: "We were in trouble today"

Thessaloniki, Greece, June 21, 2015 - Slovakia recorded their first win of the second week of Pool G action by beating Mexico 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-17) in Thessaloniki.

Slovakia coach Flavio Gulinelli: At the beginning we were really in trouble. The Mexicans were playing good but then slowly, slowly we found a key to win the match and the end was easy, but I have to make many changes in order to find a balance. We will schedule an evaluation for Bencz because we don’t know how serious is his problem and then we will see. I hope it won’t be so serious and he will play in the Final 4.

Slovakia player Matej Patak: We are happy to win this game because we didn’t start well. The atmosphere in the team was not that good but after the second set was a little bit better and finally we had some fun in our game.

Mexico coach Roberto Vilches: First of all, I would like to congratulate the organizing committee. I think this was a marvelous competition here in Greece, in the beautiful city of Thessaloniki and it was a privilege for us to play in this tournament. Regarding our performance I’m happy to see my team getting better and better every day and finally we managed to win a set against China and Slovakia. We are leaving Thessaloniki with a positive felling for our next goals. In the next season of the World League we will set a higher goal, which will be not only to win matches but also to qualify to the next group.

Mexico captain Tomas Aguilera: We knew that we had to play against tough rivals. Slovakia is a very good team but we entered the match with the mentality of winning it and we are happy with our performance. We have w lot of young players and we knew that it’s going to be a tough experience but we are trying to make a blow as a team and that takes time.
