Kohut and Bencz team-up for Slovakia victory

 

Slovakia get into the win-column with a straight-set win over Mexico in Pool G of the FIVB Volleyball World League

Tepic, Mexico, June 13, 2015 – Emanuel Kohut and Milan Bencz combined for 24 points in Slovakia’s 3-1 (25-21, 25-19, 25-19) win over Mexico in Pool G of the FIVB Volleyball World League at the Auditorio de la Gente on Saturday.

Kohut scored 14 points, while Bencz contributed 10 points to lead Slovakia, while Daniel Vargas scored 13 points for Mexico on a losing effort.

Mexico had the advantage in the match opener as Vargas led the charge in scoring. Kohut then led Slovakia with the takeover and protected their lead throughout the first set 25-21.

Slovakia remained strong and controlled the second set with their strong serves and spikes, and established a wall against the Mexican spikers for a commanding 23-16 lead. Mexico only managed to score three more points after and conceded the set to Slovakia 25-19. In the third set, Slovakia maintained their game plan and prevented Mexico to make any further runs to complete their sweep 25-19.
