Venezuela will make a comeback after a six-year absence in the FIVB Volleyball World League

Caracas, Venezuela, March 25, 2015 – The Venezuelan men’s volleyball team will stage a comeback in the FIVB Volleyball World League after a six-year absence in the premier annual men’s volleyball tournament.

The Venezuelan men played in the 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2009 editions, capping their best performance in 2005 by finishing in seventh place with five wins and seven losses.

In the 2015 edition, Venezuela will play in Pool H of Group 3 along with Kazakhstan, Spain and Egypt from June 12 to 14 at the Taraz Sports Palace in the city of Taraz, Kazakhstan for the first round. The second round will be played in Cairo, Egypt from June 19 to 21.

Venezuela’s return in the World League sets a positive mood for its players, likewise marks a hopeful start for their new coach Vincenzo Nacci.

“Our participation in the World League will not be easy,” Venezuelan main playmaker Jose 'Chema' Carrasco said. “We are all eager to play and we have set high expectations this year.”

“We have been training hard,” Carrasco added. “We trained in Lebanon with the Zahra club. We know that it will not be an easy task but we trust that we will do well this year.”

Host country Slovakia and the winners of Pools F, G and H will advance to the Final Four of Group 3 from July 3 to 5, to determine which country will advance to Group 2 next year.
