Russell guides USA for second home-win over Poland

 

USA's Aaron Russell fired 20 attacks against Poland in Pool B at the FIVB Volleyball World League

Hoffman Estates, USA, June 13, 2015 – Aaron Russell fired 20 points to guide USA in their 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-17) victory over Poland at the Sear’s Centre Arena on Saturday, and pick up their sixth victory in Pool C of the FIVB Volleyball World League.

Russell outduelled Poland’s Bartosz Kurek in scoring. The Polish scoring giant was limited to 13 points. USA’s Matthew Anderson scored 14 points and Murphy Troy charted 10 markers.

USA managed to recover from their first set blunder to take the next three sets. In the second set, USA were caught in a similar situation as the first set, but their great focus helped them with a better end game.

Russell paced USA for an 8-4 lead in the third set. Anderson helped out and had a 5-0 serving run to bring USA further ahead 19-9. Poland only managed to score six points thereafter as USA closed the set 25-15. Russell scored two consecutive spikes to tie the score at 8-all in the fourth set. USA took advantage of Poland’s struggle and powered their way for a 25-17 set and match victory.
