Lucarelli and Vissotto fire Brazil to revenge win over Serbia

 

Belgrade, Serbia, June 14, 2015 - Brazil had the last word in their fourth encounter against Serbia in the FIVB Volleyball World League 2015, winning 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-13) in Belgrade on Sunday.

Tough game point by point opened the match, but the 8-6 lead went on Serbia's side by the first technical time out. Ivovic's great performance at the service line extended the lead to 10-6, but Brazil fought back to 11-10. Ivovic spiked to go 16-13 ahead, but a few nervous moves on both sides made it even at 18-18. Serbia took the lead again at 23-20 and Brazil's response in service allowed them to tie at 23-23. Riad remained on the service line until the end of the set, winning 25-23. Serbia hit back from the beginning, ruling 8-2 by first technical time-out. Brazil patiently worked on to keep up with the hosting team to 12-8 and 17-15 with Isac's serve, but Serbs learnt their lesson well from the previous set. Ivovic continued his great performance at the net, taking Serbia to 23-18, but it was Petric who closed the set at 25-20.

Hosting team's own mistakes made it even at 5-5 and Brazil take over 8-6 by the first technical time out after block on Atanasijevic. Lipe put the rival in trouble increasing the lead to 11-7 and Serbia gave them a hand making a few mistakes in return. Luckily for Serbia, Brazil lost their focus, allowing the hosting team to chase the score to 15-16. Lipe fired back from the service line, but Petric controlled the situation until 19-20. Lucarelli stepped in, scoring in serve and attack, giving Brazil win in the 3rd set 25-21. Hard fight opened the 4th set, with the slight 8-7 lead of team Serbia at the first technical time-out. Serbs hit right after the break, taking 11-8 after Atanasijevic's attack. Two aces by Vissotto brought Brazil closer, but Atanasijevic kept 4 pts lead by the second technical time out. Ivovic joined his teammate, increasing the lead to 20-14. Brazil, motivated to finish the game, made a come back, but Serbs remained better. Atanasijevic spiked at 25-21, bringing second tie-break in Belgrad this weekend.

Both teams began focused, trading points until 6-6. Podrascanin's single block put Serbia 8-6 ahead, but Riad fired back with two excellent serves. Two unexpected serves by young Brazil's ISac and Lucarelli put Serbia again ahead, but Vissotto foxed his teammates mistakes with an ace at 11-11. A mistake by Petric and ace by Lucarelli gave Brazil first match point at 14-12. The guest team closed the game at 15-13!
