Iran seek to continue win-streak against Russia

 

Head-to-Head

• Iran won both encounters against Russia this season after having lost their previous three against them in the World League.
• Shahram Mahmoudi and Mojtaba Mirzajanpour M. each scored 17 points in Iran's 3-0 win on 14 June, including 15 points from 27 spike attempts.
• Russia's last win against Iran was a 3-0 win at the 2014 World Championships.

Iran

• Iran can lose back-to-back home matches for the first time ever in the World League. They have won 10 of their 14 home matches in the competition.
• Iran need two in twice and hope Poland lose twice to have a chance to qualify for the next round.
• They qualified for the final round last year, when they eventually finished fourth.
• Iran have won five of their last six World League matches.

Russia

• Combined with last season, Russia have now lost 11 World League matches in a row, a team record.
• They have lost all eight matches this season. Only in 1997 they lost more (12).
• Russia and Mexico are the only two sides without a win in the 2015 World League.
• Russia are the only team in group 1 without a player scoring at least 100 points. Their top scorer is Pavel Moroz with 96 points.
