Iran, Finland federations sign agreement on future cooperation

 

The Iranian and Finnish federations will be cooperating more closely after signing an agreement in Finland

 Kuortane, Finland, May 12, 2015 – The Finnish Volleyball Association and the Iranian Volleyball Federation concluded an agreement of bilateral cooperation on Tuesday at the Olympic Training Center in Kuortane, Finland. 

The agreement, signed by Finnish Volleyball Association President Pasi Sydänlammi and Mohammadreza Davarzani, President of I.R. Iran Volleyball Federation, calls for the countries to work together to strengthen their standards of volleyball at all levels and boost mutual cooperation in sports. 

“We are very happy to sign this sports partnership agreement with Iran in volleyball. We know the strong reputation of the Iran Volleyball Team. Iran ranked fourth in the World League and sixth in the World Championship,” Sydänlammi said. 

On the other side, the President of the Iranian Federation described the agreement as “an important step in strengthening the relationship between the two federations.”

The Iranian Men’s National Volleyball Team are playing in Finland for the first time, as both teams prepare themselves for the 2015 FIVB World League. 

Finland and Iran are playing three friendly matches this week. The first one on Thursday will be played in Kuortane, while the other two will be held in Leppävirta on Friday and Saturday. Tickets for all three matches were sold out before the Iran team arrived in Finland. 

Iran will leave Finland for the Czech Republic on May 17. The Iranians will play two more friendlies with the Czech National Team before starting their World League campaign. Iran finished fourth in 2014 World League, and the Iranians will line up against USA on May 30 in their first match of the Preliminary Round.
