Australia count on home advantage

 

Head-to-Head

• Brazil won both home matches against Australia this World League season, 3-1 and 3-0. Those were the first two encounters between the two teams in the competition.
• Ricardo Lucarelli Santos De Souza (20 points, 3-0) and Evandro M. Guerra (19 points, 3-1) were the top scorers for Brazil in these two matches.
• Australia's Thomas Edgar scored 27 points in both matches combined.
• Brazil are also unbeaten against Australia in four matches at Olympic Games, world championships and world cup, conceding only one set.

Australia

• Australia have lost nine of their last 10 in the World League, the exception being the 3-0 victory against Italy on 12 June.
• They have lost each of their last three World League matches in straight sets.
• One defeat will knock Australia out of contention for the Final Six. They finished joint-fifth last season and 10th on debut in 1999.

• Brazil lead Pool A by one victory over Italy. Brazil are already certain of the Final Six as hosts of the event in Rio de Janeiro that starts on 15 July.
• Brazil have always finished in the top six in the World League, in 25 previous participations.
• Ricardo Lucarelli Santos De Souza ranks third among best scorers (112 points) and first among best spikers (55.32% success rate) in Group 1.
• Brazil have split their last two series after winning four matches on the trot in the World League.
• Brazil have avoided a straight sets defeat in their last 18 World League matches.
