Antiga: "It was our best game"

Poland coach Stephane Antiga reacts

Tehran, Iran, June 28, 2015 - Poland coach Stephane Antiga praised his players as his team claimed victory in their second FIVB Volleyball World League Pool B match away to Iran this weekend.

Iran captain Saeid Marouf said: "First of all, I congratulate Poland. Tonight, you have all seen one of the best matches in the World League, with Poland. All I can say is they had control of the match in every set except the first. We were consistently under pressure. I think no more could be done. Poland is one of the world's best teams. All we tried was useless. We could have reduced the margin but tonight we could not win."

Poland captain Michal Kubiak said: "I would also like to congratulate the Iran team because they made us play our best volleyball. I think it was our best game in this World League. We played in such a beautiful arena, with an amazing crowd. We showed we are able to win even with a crowd like this. I would also like to say our team played very good volleyball. Our opposite wasn’t our first choice opposite, but he played very well. Congratulations also to him."

Poland coach Stephane Antiga said: "I am so happy with this victory because as both captains said, it was our best game. It was an important game to qualify for the Finals, we needed the victory. We really had to win. I liked the behavior of my players in the context of the pressure here. It was our best game because it is very difficult to win here against a strong team like Iran. A lot of teams lose here because of the incredible atmosphere. It is very difficult. As Kubiak said, our opposite had not played before. I am very proud of how he [Jarosz) played tonight. He had really strong reactions. He was very aggressive, very positive, and very efficient. With this kind victory, we are stronger because of its impact on our team spirit."

Iran coach Slobodan Kovac said: "Congratulations to Poland. They played well and they won. We started the first set very well. After that, in the second and third sets, we made mistakes especially with our spikes. At this level, we cannot make these mistakes. When we play against a team like Poland, we must put them under pressure with our serves and tonight we did not play that well. I am sorry because our fantastic fans gave us so much energy; tonight we did not use that energy."
