Anderson's performance in this match is the most complete, says Lotman

USA captain Paul Lotman praised his team-mate Matthew Anderson for his complete game against Russia

Long Beach, USA, June 6, 2015 – USA scored a 3-0 victory over Russia in Pool B of the FIVB Volleyball World League at the Walter Pyramid on Saturday.

USA coach John Speraw: “I thought in general the level was much higher, particularly in the first set. you could tell Russia were very prepared, particularly how they were setting up their block against our tendencies. We responded by playing much better and we did some very nice things at the net as well. I am very pleased to get three points and six on the weekend.”

USA captain Paul Lotman: “I want to thank all the fans who supported us. This may be the best home crowd I’ve ever seen in USA Volleyball history. In the first two sets, the Russian team pushed us. They played very well. The first set especially was a big test for us. I think in the third set we showed our true potential as a team and we played confident and aggressive. Matt Anderson had one of the best matches I’ve seen him play – the most complete.”

Russia coach Sergio Busato: “Today, there are no words for this game. We have one chance in the first set. We played better on the block but in other skills, we played very bad. We played very bad in reception, we played very bad in attack, we played very bad in the serve. At this moment, we are looking at Rio de Janeiro with binoculars. We must restart and reset after these two matches and start training immediately to increase our skill level.”

Russia captain Andrey Ashchev: “Today, USA did not give us any chance. We want to thank them for hosting these matches.”
