We showed we aren't here as tourists, says Tunisia coach

Tunisia were delighted with their debut tournament win

Podgorica, Montenegro, 14 June, 2015 – Tunisia coach Fethi Mkaouar said that his side’s 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-17, 25-19) defeat of Puerto Rico shows his side are not ‘tourists’ in the World League.

"I'm so proud on my players,” said Fethi. “The first match was so hard for us, and in the second we missed our chance in first set. Today we played really well. Puerto Rico have a very good team, but today all the players decide to show everyone that we didn't come here as tourists. We are here to play and win.”

"I'm so happy for this win,” added Marouane M'Rabet, captain of Tunisia. “It was so important for us to show that we can play and win games in this group. My teammates were amazing, and this is a huge win for us.”

Hector Soto, captain of Puerto Rico, said: “Mentally we weren't prepared. We saw a video, but we made a lot of mistakes. We haven't found a rhythm and we lost the match mentally.”

Javier Gaspar, head coach of Puerto Rico, added: “We were emotionally too flat today. We weren't able to put a ball away even when we had a good one on one, and a lot of credit for that goes to Tunisia. Their defensive players were in the right spots, and they grabbed a lot of balls. We lack a discipline in blocking them.”
