Serbia push for more wins to claim second spot

 

Head-to-Head

• Serbia and Italy each won one of their two previous World League encounters this season. Serbia won 3-1 in Italy and the Azzurri claimed a 3-2 home win.
• Serbia have won 14 of all their 26 World League matches against Italy.
• Five of the last eight World League matches between Serbia and Italy were decided in the fifth set.
• Serbia have won five of the last seven encounters with Italy in major competitions.
• Simone Anzani had seven blocks for Italy in their 3-2 win against Serbia on 7 June this year.

Serbia

• Serbia have one more table point than Italy, but are still sitting in third place in Pool A, having won four matches against Italy's five.
• Serbia have won their last two World League matches in straight sets. Since participating as Serbia (2007) they have twice posted a streak of three World League victories in straight sets.
• Serbia did not finish in the top six in their previous four World League participations.
• Their best finish in the competition is runners-up, which they achieved on four separate occasions.
• In Group 1, Nikola Jovovic ranks as third best setter. He is averaging 4.32 per set.

Italy

• Italy are ranked second in Pool A, despite having fewer table points than Serbia. Their five wins over Serbia's four give them the edge.
• Italy finished third in each of their previous two World League participations. They finished in the top six in four of their previous five participations.
• Italy have won the World League on eight separate occasions, but have not won the trophy since 2000.
