Familiar foes Brazil and Serbia celebrate 20th encounter

 

Head-to-Head


• Brazil and Serbia (incl. SCG and YUG) will meet for the 19th and 20th time in the World League. Serbia have won only three of their previous 18 meetings.
• Three times this fixture was the final of the World League: 2003, 2005 (both as SCG) and 2009. Brazil took the gold medal in each of them.
• The last six World League meetings between these teams all went to five sets.
• Bruno Mossa Rezende (BRA) could meet Modena Volley teammates Nemanja Petric (SRB) and Uros Kovacevic (SRB). 

Brazil 
• Brazil are one of two teams to have been ever present at the World League and will participate for a record equalling 26th time alongside Italy.
• They have won the World League a record nine times and also have the most silverware in the competition (18, G9-S5-B4).
• Brazil have failed to reach the final in only two of their last 14 participations (G8-S4). They finished as runners-up in their last three finals
• Brazil have won their last five World League meetings with sides representing Europe.
• Sérgio Dutra Santos is one of four players competing in the 2015 World League having reached the age of 39 years.

Serbia
• Serbia (incl. SCG and YUG) will participate for the 18th time in the World League. 
• They are aiming to complete their collection of silverware after winning four silver (2003, 2005, 2008, 2009) and three bronze medals (2002, 2004, 2010).
• Serbia are four matches shy from playing their 250th in the World League. They could also suffer their 100th defeat in the competition (now 95).
• Serbia have won three of their last four World League matches without losing a set.
