Greece and Mexico prepare for second World League encounter

 

Pool G: Head-to-head Greece v Mexico (June 19)
· Last week, Greece and Mexico met for the first time in the World League. Greece beat Mexico in five sets.
· Jorge Barajas (14) led the scoring for Mexico while Athanasios Protopsaltis (17) scored most points for Greece in this match.
· Greece are on a seven-match winning streak against teams representing NORCECA.
· Julian Duarte (MEX) will celebrate his 21st birthday on the day of the match.

Greece

· All of Greece's three matches in the opening week for Group 3 of the World League went to five sets. They defeated Mexico and Slovakia but lost to China.
· Greece have won three of their last 10 World League matches that went into a fifth set.
· Greece will host this week's matches of Pool G in the World League in Thessaloniki. They have won seven of their last 10 World League matches played on home soil.

Mexico
· Mexico failed to win any of their matches in the opening week for Group 3 in the World League. They lost 3-2 to Greece and 3-0 to Slovakia and China.
· Mexico won their first two World League matches (2014) but have failed to win each of the next seven.
· Mexico are eyeing their first World League victory away from home as both wins so far came in Mexico City.
