Opava, Czech Republic, July 3, 2015 - The Czech national team are holding back on their preparations for their match against Japan, who they will take on at the City Hall Opava this weekend in FIVB Volleyball World League Pool D.
The Czechs are aiming to claim second place in Pool D. Coach Zdenek Smejkal said: "I am glad that we have something to play for. If we beat the Japanese team twice, we finish in second place, which is our goal."
Speaking about the Japanese team, Smejkal said: "The Japanese are great on court. They present a quick game, faster than the South Koreans'. There are two important players - the opposite and the outside spiker."
If the Czech team win both games, they will receive the coveted second position. Any other result means success for Japan. "We're in the same situation as last year. The two victories are real and I believe that our training has been reflected in our quality," concluded Czech middle blocker Jakub Vesely.
