Netherlands finish the World League with the victory

 

Antwerp, Belgium, July 4, 2015 - Netherlands end the 2015 World League Intercontinental round with a victory over Red Dragons 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-17). A hero for the Oranje was Niels Klapwijk, who led the team in attack, scoring 15 points. Jelte Maan remains the best server, scoring 3 aces for the Dutch. This was the last match for the Netherlands with Belgium already through to the Final Four of the Group 2, which will take place in Varna, Bulgaria next weekend.

Match begins with a play by play from both sides but Netherlands go 8-6 ahead by the first technical time out. Individual mistakes made by the Dutch bring Belgium to 11-10, but the hosting team can't keep the lead when Van den Dries gets blocked. Match continues point by point until 23-23, when a Klapwijk spike gives the Dutch a set point. Coolman finishes the set with a long attack at 25-23 for Netherlands.

Belgium open the second set with three errors and an early time out. Coach Baeyens subs in Rousseaux for Van den Dries, but the errors on Red Dragons' side continue and Netherlands increase their lead to 10-5. Colson, Rousseaux and Coolman make a come back to 17-18, but Netherlands control the match and Klapwijk spikes to win a set point at 25-22. 

Strong start from Netherlands for 4-1 and continue to lead, but Belgium stay close by 1-2 points until after the second technical time out, when Netherlands run to 18-15. The Dutch block makes it 20-15 and Netherlands welcome first substitutions - Van Haarlem change Abdel-Aziz. Gommans closed the match at 25-17.
