Japan aim to finish without negative set balance

 

Head-to-Head

• Japan's 3-1 on 30 May was their first victory against Czech Republic in the World League. They have lost five matches against them. 
• The only time Czech Republic lost the first set in all six World League matches against Japan, they managed to win in five sets, their last encounter on 31 May.
• Jan Stokr scored 26 points in Czech Republic's 3-2 win on 31 May, one day after recording one point in their 3-1 defeat.

Czech Republic

• Czech Republic have lost their last four World League matches played in July. Their last July-win came in 2003, when they defeated Spain (3-1). 
• Czech Republic have won their last two in the competition. The last time they won three in a row was last season, when they defeated Portugal and Korea twice in the beginning of June 2014.
• Only Song Myung-Geun (KOR, 175) have scored more points in Pool D than Jan Stokr (149).

Japan

• Japan have won four matches in the 2015 World League and are one win shy of equalling their second best ever (5 in 1990, 1991 and 2008). In 1993, they had a team high of 10 wins.
• Japan need to win this match to be still able to finish the season without a negative set balance for the first time ever in a single World League edition (22nd participation).
• With at least a 3-1 win, Japan secure themselves with their best set balance in the World League season. They are now on a negative score of four sets. In 1993 they had their best ever (-5).
