France target another straight sets win

 

Head-to-Head
· These teams will meet for the fifth and sixth time in the World League. All four previous confrontations came in 2003 with two wins for France and two wins for Czech Republic.
· France have won six of their last seven World League encounters with EVC teams.
· France and Czech Republic also met at the 2010 World Championships. France won the first match by 3-2 (1st Round) while Czech Republic defeated France in straight sets in the second match (Classification Round).
· Czech Republic's captain Ales Holubec played for the French team UGS Nantes Reze M. V. last season.

France
· France have won three matches in straight sets in a row this season. Only Canada have also recorded three straight-set wins.
· France have won four matches in a row and in total they have won 18 of their last 21 WL matches.
· Last season they won their first six matches, a feat they could equal this season.
· France are five sets short of conceding 500 sets. They would be the sixth team to concede 500+ sets after Japan, Russia, Cuba, Italy and Korea Republic.
· They have won the second set in each of their last eight WL matches.
 
 Czech Republic
· Six of Czech Republic's last seven wins have come in five sets.
· They scored one set at the most in each of their last six defeats.
· Jan Stokr scored 26 points in a match against Japan and 25 points in a match against Korea. He and Rolando Cepeda Abreu (CUB) are the only players to have scored 25+ points in two matches this season.
