Finland know World League target

Finland take on the Netherlands this weekend

Espoo, Finland, June 24, 2015 - Two weeks ago, Finland could take only one set in two away matches against the Netherlands. Coach Tuomas Sammelvuo's men will aim to improve on that result when they take on the same opponents on Friday and Saturday in Espoo.

“Of course we want to win next matches. We also believe that if we practice well, then our playing level will also develop,” said Finland’s head coach Tuomas Sammelvuo.

In Almere, the Netherlands played a very effective attack and serve. The “orange wall” also enjoyed a high success rate against the Finnish spikers. That was not a surprise for Sammelvuo.

“Against that kind of team we have to defend better to win. That has also been this week’s theme in training.”

The target of the home team is now clear - to keep the third place in Pool E and avoid relegation matches for the next season. There is also atleast one change in Finland’s roster for the weekend. Tommi Siirilä will replace Konstantin Shumov as a middle blocker.
