Bulgaria to face South American opposition

 

Head-to-head
· Argentina and Bulgaria will meet for the 17th and 18th time in the World League.
· Bulgaria won the first eight and the last five meetings with Argentina in the competition. Argentina won the three matches in between.
· Bulgaria won all of their World League meetings that went to five sets (4 matches).
· Argentina won their meeting at the London 2012 Olympic Games (3-1) in the group phase.

Argentina
· Argentina are coming of a straight set win against Cuba. They are still waiting for their first back-to-back victories in 2015.
· Argentina have won three of their last four matches against European opponents, beating Germany twice and France once before losing against France (all in 2014).
· Argentina have won only two of their last 17 World League matches in which they lost the first set. Opponents Bulgaria have won three of their last four matches in which they lost the first set.

Bulgaria
· Bulgaria's four-match winning streak ended last weekend as they lost their second match against Canada 3-1. They can lose consecutive matches for the first time this season.
· This will be their first World League match against a team from South America since 2013 when they lost the semifinal 3-1 against Brazil.
· Coming into the weekend, Bulgaria have a winning percentage of 56.9% in the World League (246 matches, 140 wins), over 20 percentage points more than opponents Argentina (34.9%, 209 matches, 73 wins).
· Despite having played only two matches so far, Vladimir Nikolov has scored 45 points for Bulgaria, third-most of the team's players behind Teodor Todorov (52) and Todor Skrimov (47) who have both played six matches.
