“We were a bit nervous but we will be better tomorrow”, said Michal Kubiak, Poland captain

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 16, 2015 – While Poland celebrates the victory, Italy is now worried about the next results.

Luca Vettori, Italy player – “We did not play as well as yesterday. They used lots of high balls and their middle-blockers did a great job. We had some difficulties to overcome their block. On fourth set we had some crucial moments that we missed”.

Mauro Berruto, Italy Head Coach – “In my point of view we were better than yesterday, but Poland has a high level of volleyball. We were a bit out of the game on first set. On the second set was a shame that we lost after being so close to win. After that we had a lot of will to win and keep going on the game. Today we met the world champions and we did it face to face. Now we need to wait for next round's result, but anyway we are improving our game”.

Michal Kubiak, Poland captain – “We did not play our best game on this competition, this is obvious, but we are qualified for the semifinals and this is the most important thing. The first game of the tournament is always like this, we fell a bit nervous and I think we will be better tomorrow. And for the semifinal we will be more prepared”.

Stephane Antiga, Poland Head coach – “I’m very happy and I belive we deserved the victory. It is a very tough competition and all the six national teams are very good. On the second half of the second and during the thrird one we lost our concentration and Italy grow on the game, especially on the block. I am very proud of my team”.
