We made a great step ahead, says Italy coach Berruto

Rome, Italy, June 19, 2015 - In the fourth weekend of the 2015 World League Italy beat Brazil in a tie-breaker (26-24, 21-25,  25-18, 17-25, 16-14) in front of 11.128 people at Foro Italico in Rome.

Italy coach Mauro Berruto: It was a strongly desired victory, this match allows us to make enormous steps ahead, we manage to set many things under a technical point of view. The match has changed from a certain moment on, becoming a strange one, we played up and down through the match, as usual, we would strongly win the game and we do it in an unique context.

Italy captain Dragan Travica: Tonight’s match was the one that gave us the greatest satisfaction so far. We gave everything to win because it was the challenge we needed. The biggest victory was to see how everybody show the inside fire for the team. This team showed big character and from now on even a greater confidence in itself, but I’m sure we can do even better.

Brazil assistant coach Roberley Leonaldo: There was a beautiful atmosphere this evening, with a very warm audience: we saw an exciting show. From the technical point of view it was a hard match, because, as we said, the differences comparing to indoor matches are significant. Nevertheless it was a good game.

Brazil captain Bruno Rezende: It was an amazing experience, even if it’s so different from playing indoor, but I’m happy to having experienced it, apart from the defeat. We have no regrets because on Sunday there will be soon another match that we have to win to continue our path.
