Novi Sad, Serbia, June 18, 2015 - In the first FIVB Volleyball World League match this weekend, Serbia swept Australia at home, in the City of Novi Sad, with a maximum result of 3:0 (31-29, 27-25, 25-19), after 102 minutes of play. The match was played in „SPC Vojvodina“ hall of sports in front of 6000 spectators.

It was a very difficult match, they had nothing to loose and they risked a lot, but we managed to control the game – said Aleksandar Atanasijevic, Serbia’s opposite.

I am satisfied with the result and with our approach to the game. The Aussies played a very good match, they are a very good team. We were very focused in the decisive moments and that makes me very happy – concluded Nikola Grbic, head coach of Serbia.

The score was very close, congratulations to Serbia. We could have done better, but we failed in the decisive moments, and that is volleyball. We’ll try to do better in the second match – said Grigory Sukochev, team captain of Australia.

We played on a very good level. We played without Edgar and I am sure that everybody was surprised with the effort we showed. We cannot be satisfied with the result, but considering that this is a very young team, I must be satisfied with our performance tonight – said Roberto Santilli, Australia’s head coach.
