We can improve further, says Belgium coach Baeyens

Belgium made errors – but fewer than the Finns

Kortrijk, Belgium, May 30, 2015 – Belgian coach Dominique Baeyens said that his side made too many errors, but that their opponents Finland made more, following their 3-1 2015 FIVB World League defeat of the Finns in Kortrijk on Saturday.

“Last week we played better, but so did Finland,” said Baeyens. “We made too many 'easy' errors comparing to last week, but we broke them by winning the third set. I'm happy with that victory."

Captain Sam Deroo agreed. “We still can win tomorrow, then Finland will be eliminated from the World League. That should be good for us. Next week we have to meet the Netherlands, and that is another strong team."

Finnish coach Tuomas Sammelvuo said: "I made a big mistake by our sixth replacement at the end of the third set, a crucial set. I saw no difference with the games of last week. We have to find something to stop the Belgian attacks." Finnish player Jan Helenius said it was: "Not a question of tiredness. Belgium was again better." The sides meet again on Sunday.
