This is a big step forward for France, says Marechal

It was a tough match but France got the job done, said Tillie

Tourcoing, France, 14 June, 2015 – France’s Nicolas Marechal said that his side had made a great stride towards qualifying for Finals 4 after their straight sets (27-25, 26-24, 25-22) win over the Czech Republic on Sunday.

“It was great coming back to play in this hall, I played here with my club for three years,” said Marechal. “We stayed focused to win that game. It is a big step forward towards qualification in Bulgaria, which is our goal in this competition.”

Laurent Tillie added: “It was more physically difficult tonight and we were less concentrated, but we did the job as we won 3-0. Now we have to stay focused as we need another victory to confirm our qualification. It was a real pleasure to play here in Tourcoing in this great and warm atmosphere.”

The Czech Republic’s David Konecny said: “Then making changes didn’t weaken the quality of the French game. I’m happy, as we showed some great skills, but it was not enough. They are well experienced and we lacked lucidity at important moments.”
