Sidibe shines as French bounce Czechs

The Czechs came close in sets one and two, but France were cooler

Tourcoing, France, 14 June, 2015 – France beat Czech Republic in straight sets (27-25, 26-24, 25-22) in their FIVB World League clash on Sunday.

The first set was extremely close. Nicolas Marechal, Earvin Ngapeth and Mory Sidibe grounded good spikes for the French, while David Konecny and Adam Bartos did likewise for the Czechs. But with a lively home support behind them, the French just had the advantage, and won it 27-25.

The second set followed almost the exact same pattern. With neither team able to get significantly ahead, the score ran up to 24-24, but with local player Marechal staying level headed, he managed to grab his side the win, 26-24. And with great work from France's standout man, Mory Sidibe, plus Nicolas Le Goff and Marechal in the third set, the home side took the set 25-24 for an easy straight 3-0 win in front of a delighted home crowd.

The Czech Republic’s David Konecny was the top scorer in the match with 15 points. Mory Sidibe was the top scorer for France with 14 points. Read the match text commentary here.
