Pablo Crer scored eight points in Argentina's 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-18) win against Cuba.
Mendoza, Argentina, May 29, 2015 - Argentina opened their 2015 FIVB World League in the finest of styles, beating Pool C opponents Cuba 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-18), consigning Cuba to their third successive defeat.
The hosts worked their way to a handy 8-3 lead in the first and while Cuba stayed in touch, they were never really in the set and after a superb one-handed set from Demian Gonzalez and the kill from Martin Ramos, Argentina brought up set point. Nicolas Bruno ensured went their way with a solid block to secure the set 25-18.
Bruno continued his form into the second and Argentina remained in control. After successive defeats against Canada, Cuba were hoping to earn their first points of the 2015 World League and a Javier Jimenez spike brought the margin to 16-13. But they couldn't breach the second-set deficit and Argentina took a 2-0 lead with a 25-19 set win.
Cuba again struggled early in the third with Argentina stretching to a 9-3 advantage. Bruno remained prominent as he worked his way to a game-high 14 points, which included the match winner, with Argentina winning the third 25-18 and the match 3-0.
Osmany Santiago Uriarte Mestre continued his impressive start to the 2015 World League with a team-high 10 points, but it wasn't enough to prevent Argentina from picking up their first World League win against Cuba since 1999.
