Argentina will come back even better in the next match, says Schmitt

Canada believes that Argentina will bounce back in their next encounter at the FIVB Volleyball World League

Halifax, Canada, June 5, 2015 – Canada posted a 3-0 victory over Argentina but admitted that they had difficulty adjusting to their opponents’ game in Pool C of the FIVB Volleyball World League on Friday.

Canada coach Glenn Hoag: “We expected them to come out strong, they are a very fast team. We were somewhat prepared for that, but we made a lot of execution errors, so that made it difficult for us. We are going to have to be ready for them tomorrow."

Canada player Gavin Schmitt: “I think we did a good job weathering their storm when they came out early. We had to grind back and get back into the game. It took us a while to catch up to their speed and style of play, but I think we can do a lot better job. I think they will come back even better tomorrow, so we have to be very focused."

Argentina assistant coach Julian Alvarez: “I thought it was a good match. Lots of mistakes but there was good movement during the match, with lots of attacks. We had a lot of clarity in the end of the game, and even though we did not win, we have something to work on for tomorrow.”

Argentina captain Demian Gonzalez: “I think it went well in the first set. In the third set, we did not play as well as the first two. I think a 3-0 score seems unrealistic for how close the sets were. Canada are a good team and they defended better than we did. We are going to watch the video and see what we can improve on for tomorrow.”
