Iran suffer their longest WL losing streak

 

Head-to-Head
· This will be the fifth and sixth meeting between Poland and Iran at the World League.
· All four previous meeting came in 2014 with Iran winning the first two (3-1 and 3-0) and Poland the last two (3-1 and 3-0).
· Poland have lost only four of their 28 World League meetings with sides representing Asia. Two defeats against Iran in 2014 and defeats to China and Japan in 2008.
· These teams also met at the 2014 World Championships. Poland beat Iran in a five-setter.

Poland
· Poland have won their last four matches and can win at least five consecutive matches for the first time since 2012 (7). The last match of that streak was the final against USA (3-0).
· Poland can win their first three for the first time since 2007 when they won the first 14. Their first defeat in that edition was in the semifinal by Brazil.
· Poland is two shy of losing their 100th match in the World League.
· Poland have lost only one of their last nine matches on home soil. This was a straight sets defeat against Brazil in Bydgoszcz.    

Iran
· Iran have lost their last four WL matches. They never lost five consecutive World League matches.
· Iran are currently experiencing their longest WL losing streak against European sides, having lost their last four in the World League against teams from this continent.
· Iran have won their last four World League matches in June.
· Amir Ghafour will celebrate his 24th birthday on the day of the second meet (6 June).
