Belgrade to host Serbia and Australia in Pool A

 

Head-to-Head

·    Serbia's 3-0 win over Australia on Thursday June 18th, marked the first ever World League encounter between these teams.
·    Their most recent clash prior to this year's World League encounters came at the 2014 world championships where Serbia won 3-1.
·    Since their return to the World League in 2014 Australia have won five of their 16 World League encounters with CEV sides, beating Finland (twice in 2014), Netherlands, France (both in 2014) and Italy (in 2015).
·    Serbia have now won 12 of their last 13 World League meetings with AVC sides.

Serbia

·    Serbia have lost 99 World League matches and can become the 14th nation to lose a century of World League matches.
·    Serbia have now won their last five World League matches in Novi Sad, but they have lost their last two in Belgrade where they will take on Australia on Saturday.
·    Last Thursday Aleksandar Atanasijevic was the top scoring player in Serbia's match against Australia, scoring 19 points. He scored 20 points in both matches against Brazil last week, becoming the first player to score at least 20 points for Serbia in this season's World League tournament.

Australia

·    Australia have won one of their last eight World League matches. They beat Italy 3-0 in the first match last weekend.
·    Only Polish player Bartosz Kurek (126) has scored more points than Thomas Edgar (111) among players in Group I.
·    Edgar has scored 34% of Australia's total points so far in this year's World League (111 of 327).
·    Both Thomas Edgar (111 points) and Paul Sanderson (85 points) have each scored more points than Serbia's top scoring player in the World League this season Aleksandar Atanasijevic (82 points).
