Egypt seek second Pool H victory over Venezuela

 

Pool H: Head-to-head Egypt v Venezuela (June 20)  
· In their first ever meeting at the World League last week, Egypt beat Venezuela in straight sets.
· Badawy Mohamed Moneim scored 18 points against Venezuela of which four came from blocks, more than the whole team of Venezuela combined (3 blocks win).
· This was the only match in which Kervin Martin Piñerua Urbina did not reach 20 points, scoring only 12 points. He still scored most points for Venezuela.

Egypt
· Egypt started their 2015 World League campaign with a 3-2 defeat to Spain, but prevailed in their following two matches. They beat Kazakhstan and Venezuela in straight sets.
· In only one campaign Egypt won more than two matches. In 2008 they recorded a total of four wins.
· Egypt are one set shy from winning their 50th in the competition. · Egypt's oldest player is twice the age of Egypt's youngest player in the 2015 World League. Ashraf Abouelhassan is 40 years old and Ahmed Shafik 20 years old.

Venezuela
· Venezuela failed to win any of their three matches in the opening week for Group 3 in the World League. They lost 3-2 to Kazakhstan, 3-1 to Spain and 3-0 to Egypt.
· They are now on a 14-match losing streak in the competition, the longest running losing streak by any team in the World League.
· Venezuela have won only one of their last 24 World League matches, 3-0 against Finland in 2009. · Kervin Martin Piñerua Urbina is currently leading the top scorer table in Group 3 with 67 points, 17 points more than any other player in this division.
