Ngapeth leads France to magnificent seven

Benjamin Toniutti sets the ball in France's 3-0 victory

Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, June 19, 2015 - Earvin Ngapeth again leads from the front with 18 points as France take a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 26-24)  win over the Czech Republic to continue their 100% record in Pool D. The Czech Republic are no match for the impressive league leaders.

Unbeaten Pool D leaders France were the first out of the blocks edging into a 4-1 lead but the home side spurred on by a partisan crowd fought back to cut the deficit to one. However the fightback was shortlived as Earvin Ngapeth was again leading from the front regaining the lead for the away side to open up a six point gap at 18-12. Despite the Czech Republic's attempts, France had found their stride early taking the first set 25-18 for a 1-0 lead in the tie.

France were again in front early in the second set opening up a 6-2 lead to silence the home crowd and they seemed intent on making it seven wins out of seven in Pool D. Their lead extended to night points at 16-7 with the Czech Republic fighting to rein in Ngapeth who was 100% in his spiking succes at this point of the game. A brief fightback saw the lead reduced to four but the French again found their form to take the second set 25-20 for a 2-0 lead.

The Czech Republic side were in need of a good start to the third set to give them hope of extending the tie but were again behind in the early stages as France opened up a 5-8 lead. Again the Czech Republic fought back to this time edge in front 10-9 and seemed to have the momentum as the set reached its middle point. However France once again fought back to take the set into sudden-death and sneaked over the line for a 24-26 win and a 3-0 victory.
