Bulgaria silence hosts Cuba with 3-1 triumph

Bulgaria's Danail Milushev was almost unstoppable in their 3-1 victory over Cuba

Havana, Cuba, June 6, 2015 – The visiting Bulgarian side came back from losing the first set to beat hosts Cuba 3-1 (18-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-23) in Pool C of the FIVB Volleyball World League at the Ciudad Deportiva Coliseum on Saturday.

Danail Milushev led Bulgaria to victory with 18 points, followed by Petkov Stanislav with 10 points. Cuban captain Rolando Cepeda had another splendid scoring stint, topped all scorers with 21 points on a losing effort.

The home team claimed the first set but the visiting side won the succeeding sets courtesy of their strong defence, accurate spikes and powerful serves that held the other side helpless. In the fourth set, Cuba almost forced a tie-break, but Bulgaria kept their composure to secure the set and match victory.

The inexperienced Cuban squad was not able to close the sets, and once again failed to fare on reception against Bulgaria’s tough serves. Bulgaria claimed 18 points from their net defence.
