Baeyens: "We reacted well"

Belgium coach Dominique Baeyens speaks to his players

Povoa de Varzim, Portugal, June 28, 2015 - Despite trailing hosts Portugal in the first two sets, Belgium claimed a second away victory in FIVB Volleyball World League Pool E this weekend. Belgium coach Dominique Baeyens said his team had "reacted well".

Marco Ferreira was the Portuguese best scorer with 15 points. He said: "We fought hard in the initial two sets, but some inexperience gave Belgium the edge they needed to take the lead. I'm frustrated because we know we can do better than this."

Belgium coach Dominique Baeyens said: "Obviously I’m very happy with the two victories achieved this weekend. We knew that it would be tough, but we were able to overcome difficult situations and add six points and we only have to win one more match to qualify for the Finals. This was an extremely difficult match because we were always behind in the first two sets, but we reacted well and we were able to turn the match around. In the third set, Portugal recovered but it was too late and we were aware that the victory would be ours."

Belgium opposite Gert van Walle said: "These two victories give us spirit for the remaining two matches against the Netherlands. Today, we achieved a tough victory. After being always behind, we showed our team spirit, we kept together and deserved the victory."

Sam Deroo from Belgium was the best scorer of the match with 21 points, while Marco Ferreira, with 15, was the best scorer of the Portuguese team.
