Argentina bounce back with tiebreaker win in Halifax

 

Argentina's Nicolas Bruno topscored with 18 points in their 3-2 win over Canada

Halifax, Canada, June 6, 2015 – Argentina re-established their skilful plays against Canada for a 3-2 (23-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19, 15-10) victory on Saturday after their devastating straight-set defeat the day before in Pool C of the FIVB Volleyball World League at the Scotia Centre.

Nicolas Bruno led Argentina with 18 points, followed by Martin Ramos and Pablo Crer with 17 points apiece. Steven Marshall topped all scorers with 20 points and team-mate Gavin Schmitt scored 17 points for Canada.

Both teams traded with set-victories from first to fourth sets but Argentina gained edge in the deciding set with good scoring leadership from Martin Ramos, who scored the last two points in the match.

Ramos also had a solid game on defence, deflecting five Canadian attacks, while team-mate Christian Poglajen outscored Canada with three service aces.
