Tiago Violas was born in Ovar in 1989, and started to play in 1998, with 9 years old, in Esmoriz GC, club which he represent until 2010. After he played to the Polish club Jastrzebski Wegiel AS where he stayed for two years, moving back to Portugal in the following year to play for Vitoria SC. Currently plays for AJF Bastardo in Terceira Island along with one of his teammates from the national team Joao Jose. With 193-cm Violas is an experience setter despite is youth, with only 26 years old. He started to play for the junior national team in 2007 and only two years later he played his first match for the senior team in the Qualification Tournament of the 2010 World Championships. In a difficult moment, and despite is youth, he knew how to assume the role of titular setter in the team and handle the pressure related. He still is in an evolution phase and with lot of progress. Very committed, humble, and reveals a great determination in learning and to continuously improve. Violas, is a tactic setter, with fast and high pass, and good physical structure. His best result with the senior national team was the European League Champion title conquered in 2010.
