Ivo Casas was born in Matosinhos in 1992 and ten years after he started to play volleyball in Leixoes SC, club where he played until 2011 and from where he transferred to Castelo da Maia GC until 2013, when the team conquered the Portuguese Cup. He currently plays for SL Benfica, winning recently the Portuguese Cup, being in the final of the CEV Challenge Cup and in the lead to win also the national championship. This 182-cm libero played his first match for the junior national team in 2008 and was called for the first time to the senior national team, in 2009, in a European League weekend when the titular libero was injured and he replaced him in a match that Ivo will take long to forget. He’s a young player with a promising future. Very complete in all the specific fundaments, from the reception to the defense. His simple spirit, but clarified, is a strong asset to the team, methodic, committed, studious and hard worker, always trying to be better. In the national team his best results were in 2009 when he achieved the 1st place in the Lusophone Games and the 3rd place in the European League.
