Stankovic: "We are aware that we are facing extremely difficult matches"

Serbia captain Dragan Stankovic leads his team out to play Brazil last weekend

Belgrade, Serbia, June 16, 2015 - After two spectacular FIVB Volleyball World League encounters with Brazil last weekend, Serbian fans in Belgrade and Novi Sad are looking forward to two important matches against Australia, with both teams set to compete for points ahead of the Group 1 Finals.

Speaking ahead of the matches against Australia, Serbia team captain Dragan Stankovic said: "We are aware that we are facing extremely difficult matches over the next weekend. Although Australia on paper are the weakest opponent in the Pool, they showed their quality in the matches with Italy. They beat Italy away and sent us a really powerful message that we have to be serious. A good approach to the game with the support of our fantastic fans in Novi Sad and Belgrade can help us to two important victories."

Serbia and Australia will meet for the first time in the World League. So far, the two teams have only played each other twice at the World Championships (Yugoslavia and Australia played in Japan in 1998 - Serbia and Australia also played in 2014 in Katowice). The Serbian team won on both occasions (3-0 and 3-1).
