Grbic: "Serbia are in good shape"

Serbia take on World League Pool A opponents Brazil twice this weekend

Belgrade, Serbia, June 11, 2015 - Serbia take on FIVB Volleyball World League Pool A opponents Brazil twice this weekend, first in Novi Sad on Friday, and in Belgrade on Sunday.

Serbian volleyball fans will remember the World League Finals matches between the two teams in 2003 in Madrid, and in 2005 and 2009 in Belgrade.

The match in Spain is rated as one of the best volleyball matches ever played. Brazil celebrated victory only after the fifth set ended 31-29 for the South Americans. Two more encounters - both in Belgrade - featured record-breaking attendances. 18,140 attended the match which took place in 2005, while as many as 22,680 saw the 2009 match. And there is no doubt that this weekend's two matches will also attract a great deal of interest.

Brazil and Serbia have already met twice in this season's World League. The two matches took place in Belo Horizonte, with the South Americans winning on both occasions 3-2 and 3-1.

Serbia coach Nikola Grbic said: "Brazil are rapidly reaching their full potential and setter Bruninho may also play. We have had two weeks to get our game together and I think that now we are in good shape. But so are they, and that promises some good volleyball over the weekend. I hope and expect that our fans will recognise the importance of the two matches and that they will help us to beat Brazil in Novi Sad and Belgrade."
