    Middle blocker (205 cm, 90 kg) Maxwell (Max) Holt was born in 1987 in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he also grew up. Max joined the National Team in 2009 and helped the team win gold at the Pan American Cup that year. Holt became a full-time starter for the U.S. Men in 2013 and was named Best Blocker at the FIVB Grand Champions Cup that year. He won a World League gold medal in 2014 and will be remembered for his one-handed block against Brazil in the final. He has played professionally in Italy and Russia.Holt played college ball at Penn State where he earned a place on the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American team two years in a row and helped lead the team to the NCAA National Championship in 2009.Holt was a member of the U.S. Junior Men’s National Team from 2005-2007. He played in the Four Nations Tournament in 2005, the NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship in 2006, and the FIVB Men’s Junior World Championships where the team took seventh. He is single.
